West Virginia Rivers Coalition

About

The West Virginia Rivers Coalition is the state's primary advocacy organization for river and watershed protection — a statewide coalition working on the policy, science, and community organizing that keeps WV's rivers clean, accessible, and protected. With a staff of scientists, policy specialists, and community organizers, WVRC monitors legislation, advocates in Charleston and in Congress, and connects local communities with the resources and knowledge they need to protect the waterways in their own backyards.

WV Rivers covers a remarkable amount of ground — from water quality policy and flood resiliency funding to public land access and clean drinking water in the coalfields. They publish a monthly newsletter that is one of the most useful single sources of information on what's happening to West Virginia's rivers at the policy level. For anyone who paddles, fishes, or simply cares about the health of WV's waterways, WVRC is the organization paying closest attention.
