West Virginia Land Trust
About
The West Virginia Land Trust is a statewide land conservation organization that works with landowners, communities, and public agencies to protect forests, farms, rivers, and recreation lands. Using tools like conservation easements and land purchases, the trust helps secure permanent protection for properties that have ecological, scenic, or recreational value. Its mission is to enhance the state’s quality of life by preserving special places and, where appropriate, opening them for public use.
Many of the Land Trust’s projects result in new trailheads, river access points, and nature preserves that expand opportunities for hiking, paddling, and wildlife viewing. This direct link between conservation and access reflects the core principles behind Access Appalachia’s focus on destination development through stewardship.
