Mon River Trails Conservancy

About

The Mon River Trails Conservancy is responsible for developing and overseeing more than 40 miles of interconnected rail-trails that follow the Monongahela River, Deckers Creek, and Caperton Trail corridors. The organization coordinates maintenance, signage, and amenities while working with local governments and partners to enhance user experience. Its mission is to provide safe, scenic, and accessible trails that connect neighborhoods, parks, and downtown areas.

These trails are a backbone of active transportation and recreation in north-central West Virginia, supporting walking, running, cycling, and commuting. By linking communities and waterfronts, the Mon River Trails Conservancy exemplifies the type of multi-use trail system that Access Appalachia aims to feature in trip planning, storytelling, and regional branding.
