Kanawha State Forest Foundation
About
The Kanawha State Forest Foundation is a nonprofit partner to Kanawha State Forest, providing volunteer support, fundraising, and project coordination to enhance this heavily used recreation area near Charleston. The foundation helps maintain trails, coordinates events, and assists with infrastructure upgrades that benefit hikers, mountain bikers, hunters, and families. Its mission is to preserve and improve the forest’s natural and recreational resources.
As a steward of a major urban-adjacent outdoor asset, the foundation plays a key role in ensuring that residents have close-to-home access to high-quality trails and green space. Its work supports Access Appalachia’s emphasis on both marquee destinations and everyday recreation areas that keep people connected to the outdoors.
