Cacapon and Lost Rivers Land Trust
About
The Cacapon and Lost Rivers Land Trust focuses on protecting the watersheds, farms, forests, and natural areas of Hampshire, Hardy, and Morgan counties in WV's Eastern Panhandle — a distinctive landscape of river valleys, karst ridges, and working agricultural land just a few hours from Washington, DC. Through conservation easements and land acquisition, CLRLT works with willing landowners to permanently protect the character of this region.
The Eastern Panhandle is under significant development pressure from its proximity to the DC metro area. CLRLT's work to protect land here is as much about holding the line as it is about adding to a portfolio — ensuring that the rivers, trails, and open landscapes that define this part of West Virginia don't disappear incrementally into subdivisions and commercial development. For outdoor recreationists, the rivers and trails of Hampshire and Hardy counties remain accessible in large part because of this work.
