Grindstone Trail Running Festival
About Us
The Grindstone Trail Running Festival is a challenging ultrarunning event held each October in the rugged Allegheny Mountains of western Virginia, based in Swoope. The centerpiece is the Grindstone 100 Mile, a demanding point-to-point course that traverses portions of the George Washington and Jefferson National Forests with significant elevation gain, remote singletrack, and long stretches of isolated mountain terrain. The festival also includes shorter distance races, creating a full weekend of endurance trail running in peak fall conditions. Known for its tough course, mountain weather variability, and scenic Appalachian backcountry, Grindstone is a true test of endurance and resilience.
